More than just Stationery

I love when I become friends with my brides, and better, I love when I work with my brides even after their weddings. I had a blissful time coming up with a lace-inspired letterpress invites for The (new) Mrs. Darrough.

I will say the best part has been the aftermath … Before she was the owner Shannon Darrough Writing and Media, she and I were designing what would become a big part of her business logo for her wedding invites and favors. Who would have predicted a piece of wedding stationery could inspire the start of a whole company?

I knew two things when we started: This bride loved navy and monograms. She loved logos so much she wanted two for her big day. The first was to be the wedding day emblem: a simple “D” bordered by two tobacco leaves. Fitting the Driskill Hotel veranda, where a cigar roller stood ready to offer guests a celebretory smoke.

The second logo (my favorite) was created to introduce her married monogram to all the guests. She confided to me that people kept mispronouncing her last name, and she’d like to lay question to rest. And so was born the “D” with arrow right thru the middle for Darrough as in Darrow. The rest of details just continued to fall into place (in navy blue, of course).

Thank you to Ashley Garmon Photograpy for the amazing photographs.  Dragonfly Designs has provided all of the stationery and logos.  Candy Bar by Stardust Pastry, Event Coordination and Design by The Fairy Godmothers, Wedding and Events, Florals by Stems Floral Design

Purple for weddings, it’s still in!

One of my most beautiful bride’s focal color for her wedding was purple.  It can be over powering when done in abundance.  Purple was used in good taste and everything looked amazing.  Please browse these wonderful photos of the special day, photographed by Matt Montalvo Photography .  Invitations and Program fans by Dragonfly Designs, Austin, Texas.

Wedding Reception Seating Charts or Placecards?

Will your event have assigned seating?   If so, you will need placecards also known as escort cards to direct your guests to the proper table.    Placecards can be simple or customized to coordinate with your decor. They can be displayed in various and imaginitive ways.

How about a twist on the traditional?   Display a decorative seating chart in a beautiful frame.   Place it on an easel at the entrance to your dining area.

Dragonfly Designs will design a unique seating chart for your special event or wedding.
